Are you able to use a sewing machine with confidence and sew in a straight line? Would you like to be able to alter and upcycle your clothes to breathe new life into them and save a tonne of money?
Join us for a one day workshop working on your own clothes giving you all the basic skills to alter, repair and breathe new life into your clothes. This is a great way to save money and prolong the life of your clothing. You might need to take up or let down hems to lengthen or shorten a garment and how let out or take in seams to fit. This class will give you the knowledge and confidence to tackle these projects in the future prolonging your clothing life.
What you will learn:
Depending on your garments you may cover some of the following
How to hem clothing
How to add darts
How to take in/let out seams
And so much more......
What you will need:
A sewing machine – if you need to use one of ours please let us know when you book
A basic sewing kit – scissors, pins tape measure etc – we do have a supply of these if you need to use ours.
You'll need to bring along two or more articles of clothing you'd like to alter and matching thread and we'll work through them together. Please do not bring items that are above you level of expertise or very expensive to practice on. You may bring projects already pinned and ready to go. Depending on the complexity of your alteration will depend how many garments we are able to adjust.
Level:
This class is not suitable for absolute beginners. You will need to know the basics on how to use a sewing machine, threading, winding a bobbin and how to stitch using a seam allowance.
