Learn The Skill of Roman Blind Making
Regular price £65.00This course will teach you the techniques to make a roman blind. We will be making a small scale version of a roman blind to show you the processes involved. You will learn how to cut the fabric and lining, work out where to place pockets, hand-stitching including stab stitches, and finally a demonstration of how to string a roman blind. At the end of the course you will have a basic understanding of how to make a roman blind and how to use the hardware so you can make all your own blinds for your home.
Please note you will be making a sample blind to our measurements.
What you will need to bring:
A sewing machine – if you need to use one of ours please let us know when you book
A basic sewing kit – scissors, pins tape measure etc – we do have a supply of these if you need to use ours.
Hand sewing needles and threads (1 to match the lining and 1 to match the face fabric)
1m of face fabric you could use old curtain fabric or charity shop purchase as this is for a sample blind not a finished blind. Make sure it is a woven fabric and not too loose woven.
1m of lining fabric (any light mid weight cotton)
1m of hook side of Sew in Velcro 1in wide
1.5m of roman blind tape
(We will have the Velcro and roman blind tape for sale with 10% off)
Level:
You will need some experience of using a sewing machine.
Mainly hand sewing and some machine sewing
