In this workshop we deep dive into the world of zippers, types weights sizes and parts. We look at the different uses of zips and how to sew them.
We check out all different pockets, types, sizes and how to pattern draft them for the right garment. We look at the different uses of pockets and how to sew them.
Let’s also attack that buttonhole phobia some people have, we will look at bottonholes, practice and perfect them.
This workshop focuses on the construction elements where we make samples and gain confidence and practice in our skills.
What you will learn:
How to insert the following zips
Trouser
Invisible zipper
Exposed zip
Slant pocket
Double jet pocket/welt pocket
Correct use of a button and buttonhole foot
How to space a row of buttons and buttonholes
What you will need:
Sewing machine (if you want to use one o fours please advise at time of booking as we have a limited amount)
Sewing kit – with the following, pins, scissors, stitch ripper, etc
An invisible zipper foot for your sewing machine - (we only sell Brother zipper feet in the shop)
Buttonhole foot for your machine and sew on button foot
What we will supply:
Zippers and fabric but if you have a zipper you want to practice with bring it along and we’ll show you how to install it

Next stage beginner – you must know how to use a sewign machine and have sewn at least one garment so you have basic knowledge of sewing clothes.

Please note we try to calculate how long a workshop will be and plan to finish each garment in the allocated time but this isn’t always possible, If you are unable to finish in the workshop time we will make sure you are confident with your garment to be finished at home.
We need a minimum of 4 people for this workshop go ahead, if this number isn’t achieved by one week before we will be contacting you with an alternative date, if you are unable to re-schedule, we offer a full refund.
