Introduction To Pattern Matching

A workshop which can take your sewing and clothes making to the next level. Learn the skills of pattern matching in this one-day class.

With tips and tricks we will take you through the basics then onto the practical side of matching patterns on your clothes so you get a really great looking finished garment. 

What you will learn:

The principles behind pattern matching

Understand what needs to be considered

Have pattern matched and sewn a pocket onto a sample fabric

Have pattern matched and sewn a curved seam (e.g. a crotch seam) 

What you will need:

A sewing machine – if you need to use one of ours please let us know when you book

A basic sewing kit – scissors, pins tape measure etc – we do have a supply of these if you need to use ours.

We will supply the fabric for your samples

If you have fabric you would like to pattern match please bring it with you and the pattern you’d like to sew, we may get time at the end of the course to advise on you pattern matching.

Next stage beginner – must have a simple understanding of sewing patterns and know how to use a sewing machine

Please note we try to calculate how long a workshop will be and plan to finish each garment in the allocated time but this isn’t always possible, If you are unable to finish in the workshop time we will make sure you are confident with your garment to be finished at home.
